Scott Mears was born in Greensburg, Pennsylvania on June 27, 1944. He was graduated from Duke University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1967. Following graduation from college he enlisted in the United States Army and served in the armed forces for three and a half years from 1967 to 1970 and received an honorable discharge as a 1st Lieutenant in Military Intelligence. He attended University of Pittsburgh Law School and received a Juris Doctor degree in 1973. In 1973 he began practice in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. During that time, he has been Solicitor for the Borough of New Florence, the Borough of Seward, Fairfield Township and the City of Greensburg. He is a member of the Westmoreland Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Defense Institute and the Westmoreland Academy of Trial Lawyers, where he served as President in 1996 and 1997. He is a member of the Ned J. Nakles Inn of Court where he has served on the board of directors. While engaging in the general practice of law, his primary focus is and has been civil jury trials mainly in Westmoreland County but also has tried cases in numerous other counties in Western Pennsylvania. |
